Snakes are believed to be the sign of sneekieness, and evil! However, in most cases, a snake can be a blessing! A snake can keep the rodent population near your home to a minimum. Actually saving you thousands of dollars over time.

Most people have a great fear of snakes, and thats normal. Everyone is afraid of something. I personally dont care for millipedes. And a word of advice... If you dont know one snake fromanother, stay away from it! Differant snakes have differant ways of protecting themselves and it may have a sting! If bitten by a snakesuspected of being venomous, call 911!

Snakes are not going to travel unless it is realy nessesary to spend the energy. Snakes are actually fragile animals.

Most snakes must be within 10 degrees of there optimal body temp to function and survive.

A snake will choose an area which has what they need. Food, Heat, Cover, Water, a spot to stay cool.

Snakes will use your porch or garrage to shade themselves in the heat of the day, so close those doors!

Snakes in Los angeles seem to be on the rise. That means to me that San diego will be soon behind.

Professional snake handelers with anytime animal control do there best to remove snakes in an animal friendly way, and release the animal without harming them.

A snake will move to a spot every day to warm up. then he must move later as the sun moves. This is called thermo regulation.Nearby will be an ambush site, where he will wait till food walks by.

Cutting grass will take cover away from a snake, making the area less safe to the snake. Brush should also be removed.

No wood piles along the house, they invite mice, and that will bring snakes.

Bird feeders will also invite mice, so be sure to have a catch tray for those seeds that get kicked out of the feeder

Thank you for the good information. I need to do a complete yard cleaning. Where can I find pictures of friendly and not so friendly snakes native to San Diego?
